Christine Noel, DMA. Founder and Artistic Director
Christine Noel, co-founded the RI Children's Chorus in August, 2003. High teaching standards, musical excellence, and her love for mentoring youth provided the foundation for its development into an award-winning children's chorus, which now comprises six performance ensembles, serving children ages 7-18 years. Dr. Noel has conducted RICC at the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) conventions in Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Providence, and at the 2009 conference of the National Association for Music Education.
In addition to her work with the RI Children's Chorus, Dr. Noel is the Artistic Director of the Providence Singers. Each December she conducts the RI Philharmonic and the Singers in Handel’s Messiah. She recently conducted the Singers with orchestra in a commercial recording of Dan Forrest’s Requiem for the Living (2013) and collaborated with composer Ola Gjeilo in the performance of his works, including the world première of "Westminster Bridge," commissioned by the Providence Singers.
Dr. Noel is an active guest conductor, festival clinician and adjudicator. She has served on the music faculty and as Director of Choral Activities at Clark University (MA), where she devised a curriculum in Sight-Singing and Ear Training. She has also served as Musical Director at Trinity Repertory Company. She received a Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts in Conducting from Boston University. Fluent in Italian, she completed the superior level of Italian studies at the University of Florence and served as Assistant Conductor and vocal coach for Italian choirs, Animae Voces and Coro Polifonico di Caricentro di Firenze. Dr. Noel holds an undergraduate degree in Music Education from RI College, where she was the recipient of a Ridgway Shinn Fellowship for study at the Kodály Institute of Music in Kecskemét, Hungary.
Joyce Wolfe, Co-founder and Executive Director
Joyce Wolfe, Executive Director of the RI Children's Chorus, manages the many, varied administrative needs of the organization. A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, Ms. Wolfe has had a lengthy career in education as a teacher in Cranston and Woonsocket schools. For many years she was a partner/manager of the Village Realtors agency of Chepachet. She is a longtime member of the Providence Singers and the Carillon Women's Chorus. As a parent and former teacher, Ms. Wolfe's business acumen and experience in working with children ensure the RI Children's Chorus members and their families the finest possible choral experience.
Cassie Goryl, Chorus Manager
Cassie Goryl, Chorus Manager, helps Ms. Wolfe manage the administrative needs of RICC. Cassie is a graduate of Bryant University, where she obtained credentials in Communication, Marketing, Business Administration, and Human Resource Management. She is passionate about music and arts education for youth, and finds herself inspired by the talent of our students. A lifelong singer, Cassie is a proud member of Carillon Women’s Chorus based out of Lincoln, Rhode Island. In addition to her role with RICC, she also works full-time at Bryant University as a Human Resources Generalist. Cassie loves working alongside our staff, and looks forward to getting to know the students and families who participate in our choirs. Sarah Prickel-Kane, Conductor (Training Choruses)
Sarah Prickel-Kane holds a B.M. in Music Education from RI College, where she graduated with honors. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Music Education, with a concentration in choral conducting, from Florida State University. Sarah is the choral director at Narragansett High School, as well as musical director for the Narragansett School Systems theater productions. Active in local music education, Sarah serves on the executive board of the RI Music Education Association and is a frequent festival manager, adjudicator, and clinician. She also serves as Youth Choir Chair on the executive board of RI American Choral Director's Association. In 2016, Sarah was the guest conductor for the Rhode Island Jr. All-State Treble Chorus. Sarah has won several vocal awards, including the Providence Singers' Fassett Fellowship in 2012. In the past, she has served as music teacher at West Glocester Elementary School and as Artistic Director of the Carillon Women's Chorus. Sarah also maintains a private violin, piano and voice studio.
Meagan Morales, Lyric Chorus Conductor (East Providence)
Meagan graduated from RI College and holds a B.M. in Music Education. She is the Music and Performing Arts teacher at Immaculate Conception Catholic Regional in Cranston. Meagan has taught music at Woodlawn Catholic Regional School in Pawtucket, RI and was the music and choir director at St. Ambrose Church in Lincoln, RI. She recently moved back to RI from NY, where she taught music at an inner city early learning center and studied with various vocal instructors. Meagan is thrilled to be back in RI and working with RICC. She is currently the assistant music and choral director at St. Matthew’s Church in Cranston, RI and teaches private voice and piano lessons. Meagan has won several vocal awards, has served as a guest soloist for various orchestras and chamber groups, and recently played the role of Cosette in the 2013 OSTC production of Les Misérables. By combining her range of experience with her ability to be a compassionate, enthusiastic, and intelligent teacher, she is excited to make a positive contribution to RI Children’s Chorus.
Michael Galib, Accompanist, Honor and Chamber Choirs
Michael Galib is the music director at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of South County in Peace Dale, and pianist at Middlebury College's summer French School. Having graduated with honors from New England Conservatory with studies in composition, Mr. Galib was the 2004 winner of the International Trumpet Guild Composition Contest. Enthused by choral singing, he is the Assistant Conductor of the Providence Singers, and has sung with the Trinity Choir of Trinity Church Boston, the NEC Chamber Singers, as well as for holiday concerts with the Boston Pops. He currently maintains a private studio of piano students in Barrington and Portsmouth.
John Black, Accompanist (Lyric Choruses)
John Black is the Director of Music and Choirs and Organist at Greenwood Community Church, Presbyterian, the largest Presbyterian church in Rhode Island. He oversees the music program, conducting the Chancel Choir, Youth and Handbell Choirs, and providing organ and piano music for all services. He serves as Artistic Director of the "Music at Greenwood" concert series, conducting the Greenwood Concert Choir, a community chorus based in Warwick, RI. John has conducted instrumental and choral performances at the Newport Mansions, was a member of the executive board of the American Guild of Organists (RI chapter), and served as guest clinician leading choral workshops for gifted elementary and middle school students. John is the collaborative pianist of the Providence Singers.
Kimberly Hannon, Accompanist
Kimberly Hannon holds a B.A. in Music from Rhode Island College. She is the Music Director at Berean Baptist Church where she instructs the choir and provides piano music for services. Kim serves as the rehearsals pianist for the Carillon Women's Chorus of RI. She also provides piano and vocals for various services, including wedding ceremonies, and has served as an accompanist for various choruses and vocalists. She also has played in several chamber groups, the RIC wind ensemble, and sang in several choruses. She regularly teaches private piano lessons in central Massachusetts.
Olivia Vicente, Senior Staff Teaching Assistant, Honor Choir, Chamber Chorus, Lyric Chorus
Olivia Vicente, senior staff assistant with the RICC Honor and Chamber Choirs, has been with the RI Children's Chorus for six years. She is currently a music education major at RI College. In high school, Olivia was a member of the RICC Honor and Chamber Choirs and was active in her school's music program as a member of the Women's Choir, Select Choir, Marching Band, and Percussion Ensemble. Olivia performed with the RI Children's Chorus at the 2014 Convention of the American Choral Directors Association in Baltimore and with the RI Philharmonic and Providence Singers in Carmina Burana. Olivia was awarded the Providence Singers Fassett Fellowship in 2015.
Nathaniel de Vries, Senior Staff Teaching Assistant, Honor Choir
Tenor Nathaniel de Vries, from Uxbridge, MA, is a freshman at Worcester State University with a major in Mathematics and a double minor in Physics/Music. Throughout his high school career, Nathaniel participated in several choirs with various homeschool groups. A member of a student-led and advanced A Cappella Choir for three years, he arranged choral pieces for the group and served as the primary voice percussionist. As a drummer and guitarist, he has performed with different groups in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. In his spare time, Nathaniel writes original folk compositions, which he performs in coffee-houses and cafes in the area.
In his senior year, Nathaniel joined the RICC Advanced High School Honor Choir and performed with them in their Winter and Spring seasons. Currently serving as Senior Staff for the High School Honor Choir, he hopes to continue growing in his musical abilities. He recently joined the Providence Singers and was awarded a Fassett Fellowship.
Abby White, Junior Staff, Training Chorus Assistant
Abby White is a proud and dedicated member of RICC Chamber Choir, Honors Choir and Mentor of the Training Choir (EG). Abby is an honor student and enjoys performing in musicals including: Aristocats (Duchess), Fame (Miss Bell), Annie (Annie), The Little Mermaid (Ariel) and Willy Wonka (Charlie). Abby was nominated for 'Best Leading Actress' for Ariel by the MA Educational Theatre Guild. Abby participated in The Music Institute at RIC, a Master Class at Academy Players and recorded an album with Bill Harley. She studies private voice and piano and guest sings at weddings and various fundraisers. Abby is honored and blessed to be part of the RICC family!
Gwendolyn Dane, Junior Staff, Training Chorus Assistant
Gwendolyn Dane started with the RI Children's Chorus 5 years ago and is thrilled to be joining the Chamber Chorus this year. In middle school she participated in her school band and in musical theater with Theatre by the Sea, as well as being a part of RICC. Thanks to the RI Children's Chorus, she and members of RICC were given the opportunity to sing with Bill Harley for his upcoming album, which she considered an amazing experience. She loves performing and being a part of the chorus and is honored to become mentor of the Training Chorus this year.
